Ship fixed fire suppression systems consist of a range of equipment and systems used for fire safety on ships. These systems are designed and utilized to protect the safety of ship personnel, extinguish fires without causing harm to the ship and its cargo. Ship fixed fire suppression systems encompass a variety of services such as CO2, DCP, N2, wet chemical, fire alarm, deluge, FM200, sprinkler service, repair, and certification.
CO2 systems are one of the most commonly used ship fixed fire suppression systems. These systems extinguish fires by releasing CO2 gas in the event of a fire. However, due to the potential danger of CO2 gas to humans, caution should be exercised in the use of these systems to ensure the safety of ship personnel.
DCP systems are another ship fixed fire suppression system that extinguishes fires using dry chemical powder. These systems are typically used to combat fires involving electrical equipment.
N2 systems utilize nitrogen, an inert gas, to suppress fires. These systems are particularly suitable for extinguishing fires involving electrical equipment.
Wet chemical systems extinguish fires by employing a chemical solution mixed with water. These systems are especially effective in combating hydrocarbon fires.
Fire alarm systems are used for early fire detection. When a fire is detected, these systems automatically activate all fire suppression systems on the ship.
Deluge systems are another ship fixed fire suppression system that provides a large volume of water flow to extinguish fires. These systems are used in open areas of the ship.
FM200 systems are utilized as gaseous fire suppression systems and are ideal for extinguishing fires involving electrical equipment.
Sprinkler systems are another fire suppression system that automatically releases water to extinguish fires in the event of a fire.
